Our Vision
Garay Cooperative Network is building a new model of community ownership in San Diego’s Qualified Opportunity Zones.
Through integrated food security, education, renewable energy, housing, and workforce development, we create interconnected systems designed for long-term resilience.
We believe real change happens when communities become owners — not just participants.
Inspired by the Mondragón Cooperative Model
Garay Cooperative Network draws inspiration from one of the world’s most successful cooperative ecosystems — built on education, democratic governance, worker ownership, and community reinvestment. We apply these principles to build resilient communities in San Diego’s Qualified Opportunity Zones.
The Five Pillars of Community Resilience
Garay Cooperative Network operates through five integrated cooperative pillars.
Each pillar addresses a critical community need—food security, education, renewable energy, affordable housing, and fabrication—while strengthening the others.
Together, they form a scalable ecosystem rooted in ownership, workforce development, and long-term economic resilience.
